Eternal Life in Christ |
The
bible say in John 17 that as Jesus was preparing to go to the cross he looked
inward and upward and prayed for himself, his disciples, and for all the
believers that were to come.
As
I read this passage this morning in my personal time with God, I could not help
but to reflect on my week. Often as Christian we get off track with our own
agendas trying to do to work of God, without the God of the work. So much of
what we attempt to call ministry is in reality no more than the work of our
flesh. The truth is this, if it does not give glory to God and line up with His
will, it is simply the work of one’s own hand.
When
we come to place in ministry where our most significant question is, what’s in
it for me, than that’s a good indication that our ministry may not be for the
glory of God. If we are Christians, which literally means “to be Christ like,
to fellow Christ”, then our objective should always be to glorify God through
our agendas and our actions.
Look at Jesus prayer:
John 17:1-5
1)
After Jesus said
this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son,
that your Son may glorify you.
2)
For you granted him authority over all people that he
might give eternal life to all those you have given him.
3)
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the
only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
4)
I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work
you gave me to do.
5)
And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the
glory I had with you before the world began.
In
this passage, we see Jesus Christ willingly preparing to glorify to the Father
with His action of obedience all the way to the cross. Today our mission has
not changed it the same as the one modeled by Christ in this passage. That
mission is to know God and to make Him known through the power of His eternal
love.
If
you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior I invite you to
know him now.
The
Bible say in Romans 10:9-10: "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord
Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you shall be saved."
It’s
as simple as ABC….
A. Admit you are a sinner and ask God's
forgiveness.
"There is no one righteous, not even one ... for all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:10,23 (See Romans 5:8; 6:23.)
"Everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
B. Believe in Jesus and become child of God.
(put your trust in Him) as your only hope of salvation.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
(See John 14:6.)
"To all who receive him, to those who believed in
his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 (See Revelation 3:20.)
C. Confess that Jesus is your Lord.
"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
(See verse 10.)
